Vampire Weekend's Song "Cousins": That's More Like It!

After hearing "Horchata" (a free download on the band's website) from the forthcoming CD Contra, I was a bit discouraged. The song seemed to be lacking the electricity of Vampire Weekend's debut songs.
On the other hand, "Cousins" — another song purposely leaked off the album — sounds like all the great post-punk, new wave songs of the 80s. "Cousins" is certainly a good sign for the release of Vampire Weekend's sophomore effort coming out this month.

U.K. Ad Campaign Uses Mediocre Cover of "Sweet Child O' Mine"
Look! Guns N' Roses left me a camera!
John Lewis, often tagged as Britian's favorite retailer, is using a folksie cover of Guns N' Roses 1987 hit song "Sweet Child O' Mine" by Taken By Trees to evoke the "magic and fevered excitement" of Christmas through adverts.
The ad agency, Adam & Eve, states that the ad "captures the innocent excitement of of childhood in a very poignant way."
Bah Humbug.
