Troll, and its newest released destined for obscurity

After a near decade long silence, Stian Arnesen (better known by his stage name Nagash), has reformed the always mediocre Troll to put out yet another candy coated mid Dimmu Borgir flavored slice of commercial black metal. The question is, with other more pressing, and frankly more desired projects under his belt (a collective sign can be heard from Kovenant fans across the world), why?

Dark Fortress impresses with a diverse and ambitious new offering

The German metal band Dark Fortress have returned with their sixth full length album Ylem displaying a drastic shift in the traditional mid to blast tempo melodic black style they have come to be known for over the years. Opting for a more diverse blackened death metal approach, the band has crafted an interesting, above average release in a all but stagnant genre.
